Alhamdulillah, this new semester in July will see me coming back to work as a learner, teacher, educator, giver, facilitator, researcher and co-ordinator and etc at full fledge. Its good to remind me, my colleagues, and my students-to-be this one prime do’a, one of the things that keep me going at this crucial situation and also invaluable piece that I profoundly pleased to insert it at the 2nd page of my Ph.D thesis :

Intention for studying from Imam Abdullah Al-Haddad (may God be pleased with him!) translated from Arabic to English by Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ahmad Fredericks (may God be pleased with him!) of Glasgow, as:

All praise to God, Lord of the Worlds. And salutations and greetings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions. I intend to study and teach, take and give a reminder, take and give benefit, take and give advantage, to encourage the holding fast to the book of God (the al-Qoran) and the way of His messenger, and calling to guidance and directing towards good, hoping for the countenance of God and His pleasure, proximity and reward, transcendent is He.

I would give this du’a to the very first of classes with students throughout the batches and InsyaAllah, we will recite it together before commencing each lesson hoping for barakah of our most beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him!) (teacher of all teachers), the composer of the du’a Imam Al-Haddad waliyullah and of Shaykh Abdul Aziz, teacher that we directly learned the du’a from.

May God grant us all success in the world and in the hereafter, ameen…

Beloved teachers and friends…kindly pray for me.

It is good to know that another application of the thermal analysis is in the area of conservation of old artifacts. A 12 months colloborative project of Conservation Research team at The National Archives with experts from Cardiff University Biophysics Group and The School of Conservation in Denmark has begun their work on identifying species material used for the parchment of the UK’s most famous and earliest surviving public record, known as Domesday Book. As the work is directed towards a long-term conservation strategy, by understanding the thermal behaviour of the book will extract information related to optimal conditions for long-term survival of the priceless 920 year-old manuscript.

Head of research strategy at The National Archives, Nancy Bell was saying ‘We are delighted having Mettler Toledo’s support for this project. This is an excellent example how science applied to the study of cultural artifacts can play a leading role in bringing history to life.’

Kulliyyah of Pharmacy IIUM has recently endorsed a 1.5 million (RM) thermal analysis equipment from Mettler Toledo namely, Differential Scanning Calorimetry. Perhaps, similar conservation study (such as Tepas Mosque in Perak) could be soon readily provided by our Pharmaceutical Technology Dpt once the equipment complete its commisioning procedure.

One of most expensive games in this world has been using biomimicry to develop n improve their performance n yet few realise how superintelligent (Majestic) the Creator of the pollen is.

see this link:

excerpt from the link:
Aerodynamic Function of DimplesOVERVIEW: Spheres are not a good shape for aerodynamics. A blade or fin or wing works much better at controlling air flow for flight by maximizing lift and minimizing drag forces. Dimples on a ball help reduce drag, while spin mostly promotes lift. Without dimples, golf balls wouldn’t fly half as far as they do.

Aerodynamics of Wind-Borne Pollen – botanical evolution found out hundreds of millions of years ago that dimpled balls travel farther in the wind, and the hexagonal dimples on some forms of pollen (periporate) resulted

MasyaAllah…indeed a good reminder to us, kindly read
The Role of the Teacher….thanks to Anak Alam (may Allah be pleased with him!) for letting us know the article and the magazine (The Fountain Magazine).

Taken from The Habaib:

The book is in Arabic only and is titled “Fat’h al Muta’al fi madh al Ni’al”. Shaykh Munawar Ateeq has written a blog entry as well as an article in the IllumiNation magazine on the blessed sandal. http://scholarspen.blogspot.com/2005/11/sandal-of-prophet-heavenly-peace-and.html

“Verily I serve the image of the Sandal of Mustafa.
That I shall live under its shadow in both worlds.
[Sa’d] Ibn Masud was in the service of His Sandal.
And I am fortunate by serving its image.
I dust the Sandal image with the whiteness of my beard.
Since the Prophet SalAllahu Alaihi Wasallam fastened the band that passed between His toes.
It is not for the image that my heart is longing.
Yet it yearns for the one who wore this Sandal.
We are lowered by awe to honour this Sandal.
And whenever we lower before it we are raised.
So place it on the highest shelf!
For indeed in reality it is a crown and only outwardly a Sandal”

~ Shaykh Yusuf al Nabhani. [Taken from the book above]

lets renew our intention, may whatever good deeds we do every moment will be counted as sedeqah (charity) and whatever knowledge that we are seeking (be it al’ilm duniyya wa ukhrawi) will bring us closer to the one and only God, Allah Rabbul Jalil.

Ya Fattah Ya ‘Alim!

I am excited to hear that our beloved Al-Habib Omar ben Hafidz alayhissalam will be coming again to Malaysia, InsyaAllah this May, and more importantly he will be visiting Kuantan, Pahang ..Insya Allahu Ta’ala

but just to remind myself, there is material science (which has component of materialist n materialistic) n ‘life’ sciences as well which is even more difficult to handle. trying bridging the gap between the two is highly complicated without scrupulousness, the latter is principally essential to survive for akhirat science.

Al-salaamualaykum.
maula ya Salli wasallim da iman abada, ‘ala habibika khairil khalqi kullihimi…

fikiran memang tengah terfikir pasal kejadian alam semesta juga ni, tetiba dlm hembusan ada posting psl perkara yg sama..

my theory: based on my very3 limited reading, nmpak mcm ada
kaitan dgn ‘dispersed material in a dispersion
medium’, liquid-in-liquid is emulsion, but perhaps
explosion of big bang matter can b regarded as
‘dispersion of solid in highly densed air’, these
fragments of solid tend to self-assembled according to
their affinity towards similar constituent, n the
self-assembly take the form of spheres (very2 similar
to droplets of emulsion which is precursor of
microspheres, or a micelle)..thats why those
terrestial objects tend to be spheres?…

n the scientist think they r bounded by gravitational force relative to respective sphere core? or perhaps the stability is due to electrostatic charge between ions ‘clouding’ each sphere (cf. electrical double charge of ions in an electrolyte)

the self-assembly concept is preferred based on 70% water present, thus the core is likely to be composed by the water part (hydrophilic part as in the case of micelle), also based on ‘origin of all matter is water’ (Thales, an ancient Greek philosopher). above all it is also mentioned in The Holy Quran (alAnbiya:30)

the world initially is in equilibrium, but at metastable state which upon ‘disturbance’ can shift the equilibrium to be either unstable (dooms day?) or stable. the former is al-akhirah. n now we have seen a lot of hand made terrestial objects (eg satellites) that distract the equilibrium which apparently the ‘cause’ for worlds annihilation. The latter is in the knowledge of Allah alone.

wrt to the world is expanding, I am not totally agree with this, but am of opinion that it is actually expanding towards a convergent point, this is the natural tendency of any system, which tend to return to their original form although at very3 slow rate almost imperceptible..in this case the original point is the point of convergence = the origin of big bang itself. the red/violet beams that they measured which defined the expansion was perhaps when the beam was still travelling up the peak of a curve (thus manifested as an expansion), which surely will be descending beyond its apex, towards point of convergence (condensation?)

Allahu Ta’ala a’lam
Allah knows best!
